Attaché Seminar: July 16, 2009
The annual USAEDC Attaché Seminar took place on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Bethesda, MD. The FINAL meeting agenda is below as is the link to the survey that those of you who attended the meeting are asked to complete by August 21st. In addition, the presentations that were made during the meeting are available in the Library section of the website under the heading: Presentations and Survey, July 2009 Attaché Seminar. Of particular interest should be the results of the Thursday afternoon session entitled: "FAS Constituent Services: Round-Table Discussion of Re-Envisioning Process."

This year's meeting included the celebration of USAEDC's 25 years of partnership with FAS and a special reception was held Tuesday evening, July 14, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Rooms B338-B339-B340 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Speakers included:
Tom Cook, USAEDC Chair - introduction
Julian Heron, Tuttle, Taylor & Heron (brief remarks about why USAEDC came into being) Representative Mike McIntyre (D-NC), Chair of the House Committee on Agriculture Subcommittee on Rural Development, Biotechnology, Specialty Crops and Foreign Agriculture (remarks with the meeting presentations in the Library Section)
Ken Hobbie, U.S. Grains Council (brief remarks about the evolution of the public/private partnership of which USAEDC is an integral part)
It was a great event and USAEDC would like to thank those listed below for their support of the reception and the meeting.

The Attaché Seminar was a Full Global which allowed the members the opportunity to take part in consultations that were arranged by USAEDC and the Office of Foreign Service Operations. Nearly one-half of you took advantage of this opportunity to meet with the attachés on Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 2009. This was a new USAEDC/OFSO event and one which we would like to try to continue in the future.

As above, if you have not already linked to the survey from the meeting materials you received, please use the link below to complete the survey by August 21st. Thank you!

Annual Workshop November 18-19, 2009
The FY2010 USAEDC Annual Workshop will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 and Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.

FY2010 Annual Workshop:
The agenda for the two days of the Annual Workshop - Wednesday, November 18, 2009 and Thursday, November 19, 2009 - appears below. This is the FINAL version.

FY2010 Workshop Training Sessions
After discussions with FAS, we have determined that we shall again offer the very successful and information-rich course entitled "FAS 101 for New Cooperator Staff" on Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2009. The session on Friday, November 20, 2009 will be complementary to Tuesday's session. It is a review of and training in Results Oriented Management (ROM) and the Comprehensive Industry Strategic Plan (CISP) as tools to creating a solid Unified Export Strategy (UES). This training has not been offered in several years and it is at the heart of each industry's plan, identifying the long-term export goals of the respective member industries and demonstrating the methods of achieving and measuring those goals. Separate registration forms for these two sessions accompany the form for the two-day workshop.

Continue to look here for updates on all of this material.
USAEDC would like to extend its gratitude to Euromonitor International, Inc. (Platinum Sponsor) and IMEX Management, Inc. (Silver Sponsor) who have responded to our invitation to participate as a sponsor of this meeting. You can access their home pages by clicking on the logos below.
